Excellent listening sites!!

Hello my favourite class,

Here are two websites that are not only interesting, but lots of fun. They both have recorded listening texts, both by native English speakers and by non-native English speakers.

or if that doesn't work, try

This is the one that we did an activity from on Wednesday. Lots of fun interviews!

This is called the Speech Accent Archive. It's an ongoing project run by George Mason University to record and compare/contrast different people's accents as they read the same paragraph. There are over 1000 recordings from all over the world and some are very interesting indeed! You may be interested in the two recordings from Mexico. Then try reading aloud the paragraph yourself. If you have the technology, why not record it and post it on the blog?! Hmmm ... maybe I should do that myself ...

You can also find a native speaker's accent that you really like, and practice pronouncing the paragraph in that same way. There are so many things you can do!

The only thing is that all the recordings of accents are recorded in Quicktime. So make sure you have Quicktime installed on your computer, otherwise you won't hear a thing!

Enjoy!
